here is a brief synopsis:
the goal is to come up with the new generation of one of the most successful lighting systems in the history of zumtobel.
the “tecton” system is a modular track lighting system, that has been conceived in the 1980’s and has been a best seller ever since.

with the advent of LED and the potential integration of user scenarios as well as sensors of all kinds , the new system can become a hi-tech hub for future buildings and facilities.
so the big question is: “ what does the system of the future look like, and what may it be capable of ?”
zumtobel was putting together a list of the major points / questions that the new design could give answers to.
Applications:
Supermarket, Logistic, Education, one new application (residential?…hotel…?)
Major topics that need to be considered for each application:
New customer value by IoT trunking approach
New customer value by modular tool box approach
New customer value by additional functionalities beside light
New customer value by ease of architectural integration
New customer value by compelling product design
it would be highly interesting to also see how your idea would work in one of the above application scenarios .
please don’t feel inhibited —everything is “on the table” for reconsideration.
please note: zumtobel is not asking us to solve all electrical / mechanical problems that may come with your ideas— if questions arise during the project—we are happy to ask directly and find out what’s possible.
we would like to leave the ways of presentation open to you as you may know best how to show/ present your work.
besides the materials (i.e.: drawings/ sketches/ 3ds models etc…) we would like to have a 3 minute video from you explaining your idea.— this video will be shown at the main presentation before the board of zumtobel.
timeline:
now – september 14.. the presentation to the board will be soon after.
we know this is just a quick synopsis —therefor we will get in touch with you via phone/ skype etc within the next days.
you will also receive additional materials showing the existing system.
once again we would ask you to keep your work confidential—zumtobel is is taking your contribution very seriously and views it as a potential new product.
depending on the outcome —it may become a real product. this means competitors (other lighting companies etc) shouldn’t be in the loop of what is happening.
